So I got my gorgeous fused glass pieces out of the kiln on Monday, they went so well, it was a huge relief! I have never applied decals before but most of them where perfect, with the exception that the bicycles all have at least one flat looking tyre because I put the image too close to the edges, oh well I’ve learned my lesson.
So down below somewhere is images of the preparation of the glass, I cut around 300 tiny pieces of glass, applied the temporary tattoo-like decals I designed/drew/photographed and assembled and stacked the glass into jewellery sized chunks and delivered them safely to my brother in law’s glass shop where they where fired.
So I’ve started the mammoth task of perfectly gluing metal to glass which is nigh on impossible unless you use the most carcinogenic glue in the world. Yay!
But I delivered a fresh batch of goods to Urban Cow Studio today and that always feels great! So all the little gems you see directly below you can now purchase from Urban Cow on Frome Rd off Rundle St in Adelaide.

Swallows and diamonds and bikes, OH MY!
I’ve been working on my new range of fused glass jewellery and even though I still have over 20 pairs of earrings to create, all the brooches, pendants and cuff link cabochons are finished!
Now they are fused in a kiln at around 800 degrees and I wait anxiously to see how they turn out.

Battle stations!! It’s making mayhem round here!
For the last two days I have been preparing glass to fuse, and applying picture decals. It’s such a laborious and delicate thing to do (especially when you slice off a knuckle in the process!) But it will be well worth the effort to see them safely into the kiln before the weekend.

Sneak peak close ups of work I’m going to exhibit at the Format Zine Store on Peel St in Adelaide mid September with my good friend Celia Dottore who is also a painter trained in jewellery and also loves sequins!
This series of work is inspired by the connectivity of all things and the minor variables which ultimately determine your life path. Otherwise known as the butterfly effect.
